Hall PR – Too good to be true

In 1967, Ireland was swinging to the sound of US vocalist Frankie Valli singing his hit song ‘Can’t Take My Eyes Off You’.

And what an appropriate anthem it was for, elsewhere, truckers couldn’t take their eyes off another object that, by general agreement at the time, also merited ‘too good to be true’ admiration.

Forging Mercedes-Benz’s advance into Ireland was the legendary ‘bull nose’ model 1418 (right), arguably one of the most iconic trucks ever to run on Irish roads and the forerunner for all that was to follow.

That was 50 years ago. Since then, Mercedes-Benz heavy commercials have been the workhorses-of-choice for hauliers, exporters and distributors moving goods near and far to power Ireland’s economic development – models like International Truck of the Year winners Actros (left) and Atego.

Hall PR with the S-Class People

Fashionistas came in numbers to lunch in Luttrellstown Castle recently when Mercedes-Benz and Ireland’s leading fashion designer, Louise Kennedy, joined together for an exclusive presentation of her magnificent Louise Kennedy Spring / Summer 2017 collection.

With elegance and grace, models moved amongst an appreciative and influential audience of Mercedes-Benz lady owners to reveal a close-up view of the fabrics, designs, craftwork and style that is so much a part of every Louise Kennedy creation and to hear her unique views on all matters pertaining to her work and the success she and her collections enjoy here, in the UK, USA and worldwide.

There to catch their eye as guests made their way towards the red-carpeted castle entrance was a display of the very latest new model arrivals from Mercedes-Benz – a range that includes the stunningly elegant new E-Class Coupé and the stylish, top-of-the-range S-Class Cabriolet (pictured).

With Louise, as they admire what is surely the pinnacle of elegance and style for the many who delight in open-top motoring, is Hall PR director, Ashley Hall.

Hall PR – Facing life in a post-Brexit world

Britain should not be leaving the EU. Neither should the EU have allowed itself grow into the kind of body that the British would wish to leave.

In football parlance, is Britain acting like a petulant player, obsessed with an over-blown notion of his own value? Or, more ominously, has EU management lost dressing room support?

Hall PR – Overcome by ‘art attack’

Hall PR director Ashley Hall (pictured) found himself overcome by an ‘art attack’ when viewing what he termed ‘the exceptionally high standard of entries’ submitted in this year’s 63rd Texaco Children’s Art Competition. Hall PR was present to view the entries as part of our remit to provide public relations support services to the Competition.

When preparing to put themselves forward at a recent client conference-cum-exhibition, they (Hall Recruitment) asked us (Hall PR) to advise on the message we thought they should be putting across.

As they hoped we would, we told them precisely what we thought of them, and what we had in mind that they should do.

We said they were: ‘The Best People in a People Business’.

And aren’t they just? After all, who but the ‘best people’ would have picked Hall PR as the best people to tackle the job they needed done?

Hall PR – Proud of Annalise’s success

Annalise will once again benefit from the support of Mercedes-Benz in IrelandHall PR shared in the sense of pride felt by every Irish sports fan seeing Laser Radial competitor Annalise Murphy win a silver medal for Ireland at the recent Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Like fellow silver medalists, Skibbereen rowers Gary and Paul O’Donovan, Annalise displayed skill, dedication and determination, bringing glory to Ireland and honour and distinction to herself and her family, her club, and her countless admirers and supporters, at home and abroad.

As she prepares for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Annalise will once again benefit from the support of Mercedes-Benz in Ireland.

As part of their Tier One partnership, Mercedes-Benz will be the only vehicle manufacturer supporting Annalise’s bid for further Olympic glory.

There to wish her well as she took delivery of a new Vito Mixto van for use transporting her team, herself and her equipment to events, in Ireland and overseas, was Hall PR director, Ashley Hall.

Mercedes-Benz Wins The Treble

Hall PR is proud to be part of an award winning team.

As PR representatives for Mercedes-Benz in Ireland, we share in their delight at being honoured with three highly prized awards – two best-in-category awards plus the coveted ‘Irish Car of the Year’ title – at the recent Irish Car of the Year 2017 awards ceremony, held in association with Continental Tyres.

Following a rigorous assessment of each car carried out by members of the Irish motoring press, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupé was voted winner in the Medium Car category.

Joining the C-Class Coupé in the category winners’ enclosure was the Mercedes-Benz E-Class voted top in the Large Car category.

But the good news didn’t stop there. To the delight of all present, the E-Class was further honoured by taking the ‘Irish Car of the Year’ award – presented annually to the car that, in the opinion of these expert writers, is considered the best to arrive on the Irish market over each of the last 30 years.

At the gala awards dinner held in Powerscourt Hotel, Enniskerry, Hall PR director, Ashley Hall was pictured proudly holding the Continental ‘Irish Car of the Year’ trophy and the two best-in-class category awards.

Guiding Stars

As PR representatives for Michelin in Ireland, Hall PR joins in congratulating all those Irish restaurants, pubs and fine dining establishments whose excellence is recognised in recently published Michelin Guide Great Britain & Ireland and Michelin ‘Eating Out In Pubs’ Guide.

Our work in bringing news of their success to national attention forms part of the mosaic of communications employed by Michelin to provide guidance for discerning diners and publicise the success of each listing.

 

 

Hall PR: From the water’s edge

Skibbereen Rowing Club has much to be proud of these days.

Not only does it claim to be the most successful rowing club in Ireland – with 163 Irish National Rowing Championship titles – its membership includes two of the most decorated rowers Ireland has ever produced – Rio Olympic Games Silver Medalists and World Championship winner, brothers Gary and Paul O’Donovan.

Hall PR’s man-on-the-ground in West Cork, director Don Hall, visited the club recently where he captured this tranquil evening view, looking west along the River Ilen.

The scene is one familiar to Gary and Paul and the many other young rowers who train there and who have, and will again, bring glory and distinction to a Club that contributes so much to the wellbeing of the community and the welfare of its young members.

 

 

Hall PR says: Watch this space

In space exploration, the highly successful Rosetta mission was one in which we, in Hall PR,  were honoured to have been involved. Through our work with software specialists, Captec – whose field of specialisation involves writing software for space exploration and the validation of rocket guidance systems – we experienced the pleasure of promoting their work on behalf of the European Space Agency (ESA) in making Rosetta ready for take-off in March 2004.

Our pride in the success of its 12-years long mission (during which a considerable amount of very valuable data was collected and fed back to Earth) was eclipsed somewhat on Friday, September 30 last when Hall PR was invited to remind space watchers of the work done by the Malahide-based company as a decision to bring the project to an end by intentionally crashing the probe into comet 67P was actioned.

A fitting legacy of the late N. Ireland-born Fred Kennedy – who founded Captec in 1979 after his return from the United States where he had pioneered similar work in the electronics and space sectors, Rosetta was but the most recent in a succession of successful space exploration projects undertaken by them.

Speaking to their local Fingal Independent newspaper, his son Jon – who now manages the business – confirmed that Captec is currently working on a number of other important space exploration projects details of which, he noted,  ‘will be announced soon’.

Hall PR keeps the sunny side up

Hall PR’s Maximilien McKenna and Ashley Hall keep the sunny side up as they welcome the new drop-top Mercedes-Benz C-Class Cabriolet on to the Irish market.

Now in dealer showrooms, the two-door, open-top cabriolet comes with a comfort package that extends the summer motoring season into autumn and beyond.

Features include an electric draught stop system and neck-level heating for driver and front passenger both of which work to extend the open-top season by ensuring that occupants enjoy maximum open air comfort, even at low temperatures.

 

Hall PR addresses Cyber Threat Summit

The role of PR in Cyber Security was the subject of a keynote address given by Hall PR founding director Don Hall to a capacity audience of cyber security specialists present at the Cyber Threat Summit held recently in Dublin’s Mansion House.

Knowing that a cyber attack can quickly morph into an attack on the very character and reputation of a business, Hall said that time taken NOW to consider what a response should be ‘is an investment in the future that managers might later be thankful they made.’

Crisis planning is a complex issue, a task that requires time and a lot of abstract thinking. ‘Any cyber attack response plan that does not take account of the PR dimension, would be an incomplete and inadequate plan, missing what is arguably the most important element’ he emphasized.

Warmly received by a bumper audience of IT and cyber security professionals – as reaction on twitter would suggested – the talk reminded delegates that a crisis is no place for novices, nor is it a place for ‘yes’ men.

‘You must pick the right people, those who have been around the course, who can read situations, gauge the ebb and flow of changing circumstances, interpret developments and look ahead to anticipate problems coming down the line.’

The ability ‘to coach those going for interview, make considered and calculated judgments, understand the needs of media, build trust and be an effective ‘go-between’ between management and media’ are other skills to which Hall referred.

Described in one tweet as a ‘chilling’ talk, and in another as ‘captivating’, the overall reaction was positive in that it did open minds to the PR risks that exist and the importance of early planning.

 

Hall PR – Message reaches 1m viewers and counting

Dundalk captain Stephen O’Donnell launching ‘The Captain’s Armband’- the third instalment in a series of online videos produced by club sponsors Fyffes.

Playing a pivotal role in a communications campaign that has attracted a mass audience of over one million people in Ireland and across the globe is something of which Hall PR is especially proud.

Working with banana importers, Fyffes, Hall PR was to the forefront in spreading news of a trilogy of online videos that, when viewed together, tell the story of Dundalk FC, of which Fyffes are main club sponsors.

Broadcast on YouTube and through Facebook, Twitter and various sporting websites, the three lively and colourful productions have attracted a global audience of over 1million viewers since the release of the third instalment in the series just weeks ago.

With the Club now carving out a successful name for itself in European Champions and Europa League competitions, Dundalk FC, the brand name Fyffes which adorns their jerseys, and the club’s story as told in their video collection are set to reach an ever expanding audience as interest spreads far beyond anything originally imagined.

Hall PR delights in Irish Ferries’ success

As PR representatives for Irish Ferries, it’s natural that we in Hall PR would share in any delight their success would bring.

In being chosen Ireland’s ‘Best Ferry Company 2016′ at the recent Travel Media Awards – decided by votes cast by members of the Irish travel media – Irish Ferries completed a coveted treble by becoming the first company ever to receive all three ‘Best Ferry Company’ titles in any one year.

This latest award adds to their success in being voted ‘Ireland’s Best Ferry Company 2016’ at the Irish Travel Industry Awards and ‘Best Ferry Company 2015′ at the recent 24th Irish Travel Trade News Awards.

Hall PR piles on the pressure

Here at Hall PR, we know a thing or two about working under pressure.

For example, imagine the pressure it takes to crush giant rocks into gravel size chips.

Hall PR Gets The Captain’s Armband

It came as an invitation from Dundalk FC sponsor Fyffes to PR the launch of ‘The Captain’s Armband’ – third in a trilogy of YouTube videos filmed and designed to present the club to an international audience.

Following ‘Every Step of the Way’, released in 2014, which charted the club’s rise from troubled times, and ‘The Town’, released a year later, which focused on the club’s importance to the people of Dundalk and the region, ‘The Captain’s Armband’ highlights the pride that comes from wearing the coveted armband when leading the team on to the hallowed turf of Oriel Park.

Through the eyes of captain Stephen O’Donnell, and the recollections of former captains John Murphy (1962/63) and Dermot Keely (1979/81), it is a moving and entertaining testament to the close relationship that exists between a benevolent sponsor, its sponsored partner, and the community of which both are part.

Mercedes-Benz wins…On the double

Hall PR is proud to be part of an award winning team.

Representing Mercedes-Benz in Ireland, we shared in their delight at being honoured with not one, but two awards at the recent fifth annual Fleet Car Awards 2016.

Following a rigorous assessment by a panel of experts in the fleet sector, the recently-launched Mercedes-Benz E-Class, took the top honours in the Executive Car category while the Mercedes-Benz CLA four-door coupe was voted the best in the C-Segment Premium class.

The Fleet Car Awards ceremony, Ireland’s only business to business national car awards programme, was attended by delegates from the fleet and corporate car sectors plus associated organisations.

At the event held at Clontarf Castle, Dublin recently was Hall PR Director, Ashley Hall pictured with the two awards won by Mercedes-Benz.
