Multi Farmers Meet

Not far from Ballinasloe on the road to Athenry is the village of Kilconnell.  And not far from Kilconnell is the place where one of Ireland’s leading agricultural contractors, Beckett Agri, has its base.

Chatting with Beckett Agri founder William Beckett (right) is Hall Agri-Food’s Don Hall. Don visited the East Galway contractor to view their most recent farm machinery purchase, a Merlo MultiFarmer, and see it doing just some the work it is designed to do.

Heavily involved in silage harvesting, Beckett Agri’s area of operations extends from Moycullen, west of Galway, to a point east of Ballinasloe and into part of Roscommon.

Highly equipped, the firm has the capacity to operate three separate silage outfits at any one time utilising a fleet of fourteen John Deere tractors, four Strautmann self-loading wagons, one Claas harvester, numerous mowers, one Volvo and two Komatsu WA320 wheel loaders, two McHale balers and now, a Merlo MultiFarmer.
